Oooh, Alan, thank you soooooo much! Yes, I can see exactly what you mean. I was looking at so many pictures I was getting myself in a right tiz. Didn't help that my anxiety tablets ran out last night either, grrrrr! (pericyazine)

Craftnutter.
The top left picture is of honey fungus (Armillaria mellea). You will see that the stems are not white as the stems of the fungi in your pictures are. There is also a frill on the stem which is not present on the pics you posted.
I can't tell you exactly what you have but I am now, even more convinced that you don't have honey fungus.
The next pic is of the text which goes with the illustration. Unfortunately it did not scan well, but it did say that it's smell is "fungoid" and you said you could not detect a smell. It also says "Blackish brown rhizomorphs present, resembling long leather bootlaces and you said that these were not present.
