This is a unique plant with very tight blooms and very thick leaves.

These are Houseleeks/Sempervium. Jacque is right. These are great I have some in an old Butler sink. They like free draining soil, lots of grit etc i.e. not clay. Looks like these are doing fine. They multiply easily so you can use them to fill gaps or give away.

Thank you treesandthings. I was also told that here in the US they are called Hens and Chicks as well.
