Vincent, these are P.x candicans 'Aurora' and they are pollarded every two years. I always love the colour of the young leaves, but they are very pink this year - unusually so!

They are adding their own color so they won't be totally outdone by the rest of your masterpiece garden...beautiful color, Spritz.

Shame they don't stay pink all the time. isn't it! But later, they are still beautiful with cream, pink and green leaves.

Even though I really dislike Poplars, the young shoots on this one are always welcome. I noticed for the first time that young foliage on some of the big P. robusta types is really nice as well,(no pics. though, they are on a busy road and I value my life)
