Finches [goldfinch, redpoll, etc.] love to cling on these mesh-like sacks filled with thistle seed [niger seeds]. I find that they seem to like these better than the thistle seed plastic bird feeders.

thank you! ive never seen those feeders in the UK...and I dont get many finches, or any redpolls in my garden. perhaps i need to entice them with feeders like these!

How lovely! What are the birds eating- I've never seen a feeder like this before. Are they some kind of sparrow?
