Dragonfruit cactus

Dragonfruit cactus (Hylocereus undatus)

Well they are a year old now & about 3" tall. I have 4 small pots on the windowsill and have given as many to friends to raise. They have a looong way to go yet, lol!

They look great. They get HUGE. You'll be adding a new room to your house eventually.

How did you select the fruit to use for propagation, GZ?

Lori - It was an over ripe fruit from the grocery store. I just sliced into it and it has billions of tiny seeds like kiwi fruit. So i seperated a paper towel into very thin layers and blotted the fruit with it, sticking the seeds to the towels. After letting them dry I just planted a flat piece of towel in seed starter soil & watered it, lol! Wasted 99% of the fruit as I wasn't keen on the taste, but it only cost a whopping 99 cents to start with. The dragonfruit are rather costly when fresh, we only sell them occasionally, and they run over $5 a pound....
Hi Mike! No room additions I'm afraid, as I am only a tenant - possibly a forceful eviction when the plants & animals take over, lol!
