Rosebay Willowhurb in Flower

What is a wild flower? just a flower growing in the wrong place!! but this uninvited visitor is accepted as one of my garden flowers because it looks so delicate with the red roses.

Do you find it easy to control, Telme?

Yes no problem, it seems to stay in that one patch and I pull any surplus to requirements.

They are lovely flowers, aren't they. I wonder why they are thought of as weeds??

they seed so prolifically. after the war they were a common coloniser of bombed/burnt sites. they are aslo called fireweed in the N/E. common along railway embankments. the fluffy seeds are easily dispersed by wind and the draughts caused from passing trains.

They'd be all round my garden, then, with the winds we get here!
