I was about to ask the same question. there are photo's on here of an office building in Rome, given the same treatment... interesting method of planting...is irrigation built in?

i saw something about it on the telly, and yes they do build in irriagtion, apprently it is a very up and coming style particually in large citys where planted space is very limited. i guess it is one step futher from the green roof that was first done a few years ago, i should imagine that it will look stunning in very modern office developements...thing is with all this irrigation systems etc.... do you think it may cause damp problems?...nice as it looks i don't think i would have it on my house or anything, but in the right location, oh yes definately for it.

Hi there :o)
Yeah, I overheard someone at the show saying that they needed special irrigation systems, don't know about the damp but they must use a lot of water? It does seem to be in fashion too, I think the same idea was used on one of the urban gardens.
Two years ago one wall of the National Theatre in London was covered with grass - http://www.growsonyou.com/photo/slideshow/774. You can just about see a dark blob on top of the builiding - that's the guy watering it!

lol... to be honest Peter some crazy ideas happen in London don't they, i remeber turfing the pavement out side a shop in Nottinghill once, for a grand opening, complete with tree ferns in pots and 3 foot letters made out of all green cut flowers, and inside we had large tropical arrangements, more tree ferns and turf. mmmmm only in London aye! to be honest as nice as it looks i can't see this living wall idea taking off on local houses or anything can you? i would imagine it will need proffessional maintence, but i can see it all over the place up town on swanky office blocks, i should imagine companies such as 'Plantwise' will be rubbing there hands together at the moment don't you! lol

Maybe for fancy offices, but I can't see it taking off. It looks far too complicated for me. I have enough trouble growing plants upwards, never mind sideways :o)

Hi Peter! I saw this on the telly, did'nt get to go this year, as too much going on, but i like this living wall idea, really eye catching. i have seen it used several times lately it seems to be the 'In' thing, i wonder how practical it really is though?
