all the beatles in my garden are black ,aint never seen this type before , on the plus side I dont get bright red ones either.

Melolontha melolontha or May bug or cockchafer. bored with gw so googled this instead. can be a serious pest as the chafer grub eats the roots etc. Cant remember where i put the maybug now. I will have to keep my eye open for them. I dont know if it hatched from a grub in my garden or flew in from the pastureland over the hedge.
