Mothers out lunching - babies tucked in pouches

This is a group of mothers that were munching away on the grass earlier this evening. All had young - some were in the pouches, some were older and were close by their mothers.

Hi Hywel - yes this is in my front yard. We don't have lovely green lawns because of water restrictions but the grass that does grow around the house is quite tasty to the wallabies - especially when the surrounding bush starts to dry up. These lovelies are in our yard almost every day of the year.

Hi Younydaisydee - no these Agile Wallabies are generally not a pest. They come into our yard to mostly eat the grass - as I've said we don't have lovely green lawns here because of the dry conditions so we're not concerned about these wallabies coming in to eat the grass. There have been a couple though that have developed the taste for portulacas and demolished all my lovely plants in the downstairs garden - won't be planting them there anymore.

Pondlady - you are right. They are magnificent lawnmowers - actually that's what I call them. They do keep the grass down and we really enjoy having these visitors - it's so nice to see them up close, especially the joeys.
