The whole of this plant is very poisonous, especially the root. Even handling the plant has been known to cause problems if the person has cuts or grazes to the hand. The plant is particularly dangerous for children as the fruit looks attractive, added to this it also has a sweet taste. The toxins are concentrated in the ripe fruit.
