Canary bird is one of the first to flower. Should have pronounced anthers and scent of cloves. yours looks very similiar

Yes, it certainly flowered early, its almost finished now, as for the clove perfume I'll have to get a bit closer and see (or sniff !!)

I think its about 8 years. Its root is in shade and permanently moist soil, although it never gets fed it just seems to get better every year.
