I took this photo but haven't a clue what they are. They are growing in amongst my alpines, could it be spores from the moss?
They look just like stars.

Thanks for the info Blodyn, now I have a name I can look them up. They do look good in the sink with the other Alpines and I do get a lot of people commenting on them.

Probably liverworts. Closely related to mosses. I had them in my old garden growing on a damp wall.
