they are a lovely plant Eileen, i have another one which is a deep pinky colour but it had to be chopped right back due to frost damage, so it is behind this one, but it is making it's way back.

good to hear the frost didnt kill the other one off completely

they are hardy in the UK but can be a bit sensertive if we get a really cold one, which we did this year...still no real harm done :-)

thanks Holly, it is one i would defo recomend. can be a bit thugish though, but i don't mind this running riot around my garden at all :-)

yes good idea, i have seen 3 colours, of which i have 2, this one, hot pink and yellow...the yellow is more thugish than the other varieties thats why i did'nt get that one for this garden...i had it in my last garden and it did get really big....

lol this is the orange/salmon one ....i do have the pink though, but it is much more pinky burgandy...have a look on my garden pages under 'cape fuchsia' i have some good pic's of it from last year.

Oh I love the look of this plant Ang - but I always thought it was tender, so I've never bought one! Now you've said it's hardy.....oh,dear, another one for the wish list......

mmmm they can be Sid, i have never protected them through winter and have been growing them for quite a few years now, but i always plant them in a sheltered spot next to a wall or fence is good, and if they do get damaged i cut back to ground level in the spring, this one was undamaged this year the pink one i have did get some frost damage but i hacked it back, and it is back with a vengance, but not in flower as yet.

Well if they survived this winter, they must be pretty tough!

they can get big Jac, mine were only small last year, approx 2ft in flower this year they are about 3ft but i have seen them as tall as about 5ft-6ft...but not this colour...the yellow. and they sucker quite a lot too, i had a yellow one in my last garden and it got to about 4ft tall, and proberly 6ft wide lol. and yes Sid, i was a little concerned about them but as you can see they did make it though.

Well done I have lost mine to the frost before now yet my sons has nt lovely I have bought 2 this year and planted them in different parts so if I lose one I might keep another hopefully.

i was quite lucky this year although one of the ones i have did get quite badly damaged, i cut it right back to ground level, and it is coming back...did you try this with yours?
