Thanks! It's coming on. Difficult to know quite what to do with a huge sloped field... but the fact that the drive circles this patch of grass gave us a focal point. The dark tree is a crab apple, and the very dark blossoms are the same colour, you can't see them at all from more than 6" away, quite a disappointment. In fact the first 2 years we lived here I didn't think it had bloomed at all, but it probably did. I was expecting something paler! The little bush on the right is a sand cherry.
