Thanks Bernieh i really am very pleased with them, and quite suprized they are just what they said on the pack...always a risk when buying seed from ebay.

I've seen these recently.....was a bit put off by my previous experience with the usual varieties.....will be interesting to hear your thoughts on these when they're further along Ang.

what was your problems with them Sid? this is not the first time i have grown Oenothera, i have grown them for many years and this is one of about 5 varieties i have tried in the past, i currently have two, but i have never had any problems with any that i have grown.

Well, I've grown 2 types. Oenothera speciosa I found had pretty flowers, but an unruly habit - very leggy. I also grew the large tall one with the 'usual' yellow flowers. They seemed very shallow rooted for large plants and easily knocked/blown over, plus of course the flws only opened in the evening lol Well what did I expect, right?! Just found the plants too big for the return in flowers and then they self-seeded everywhere and I'm still digging them out......

I like the colour of this one - would look good next to a Euphorbia griffithii do you think?

oh yes defo would Sid, E. griffithii is already on my wish list, just did'nt have room for one this year, but i think i will be finding some next year.... do you want me to save you some seeds of this one?

Well I can certainly give it a go Ang :-) I'd like an E. griffithii too - no room at prsent tho - same as you! lol

lol... do you mean the grass path that is becoming thinner and thinner that allows me to move between flower beds without squashing plants.... i hate cutting grass... my lawn gets smaller each season...once Brooke grows up and does'nt want to play on it, i may well do away with it all together lol - just think of how many plants i could fit in then :D

lol ...I hear you!! I'd do away with the lawn in a heartbeat if I could!
