Know what you mean, we have a problem with slugs too and last year they devoured all of the hostas. This year I resorted to slug pellets and chucking them over the hedge! that sounds bad but we don't have neighbours at the moment :-)

Lovely photo - I love hostas but unfortunately we have too many slugs & snails here for them to survive.
