hi All, yes they do look like they are going to be yummy don't they, i am never keen on the ones you buy from the supermarket, thay don't seem to have the same flavour that they used to, i think they are bread now more for look than taiste. i have grown them once before Happy and they were lovely, with very little effort. when you say fury and mouldy i assume that you are talking about the fruit not the whole plant, and there is a reason for this. - they are called strawberries for a reason! traditionally when growing them in the ground, the soil was covered with straw, around the base of the plant, to prevent the fruit from touching and resting on the soil - as this will cause them to rot and go mouldy. and you can grown them like this quite effectively! but now days most people plant them in pots or hanging baskets that have a small surface area, so that the fruit hang over the edges, i have put mine into some small half wall baskets that have no plastic lining, so they will be very free draining, and i have planted them close to the edge. you can buy proper strawberry planters, that stand on the patio, but they are quite expensive. this is the first time i have tried them like this so i'll let you know how i get on.
