some are spearmint blue others mint green there's quite a lot of variation! We rear the blue egg layers and call them Columbines they've got a little tuft on their head and the chickens come in a range of colours they are stunning birds! apparently the blue and white eggs are supposed to be healthier due to cholestrol content!

Isn't it great to have such variety? I had ten leghorn hens when we were first married that consistantly laid double yolkers. I missed them most when we moved into town. Then we had a couple bantam cochins as pets and loved their teeny eggs . Mind, I could eat a few of those!
Lori - There are also some types of silkie hens that lay blue eggs; a friend of mine kept them as pets years ago. Egg content of the silkie eggs is supposed to be higher in vitamins as well.

I really must get a pic up of my favourite chickens they're wyandotte banties and so ornate! We've just hatched out some of these and also the Black Leghorns!
