These large flowered Asters flower early and carry on for a long time.

You've helped me make a decision, Barbara. I've always liked the little "New England Asters" that are like wildflowers. And although many think of them as "weeds" I've encouraged them in my garden...trouble is the flowers are small These look like they would fit well with the echinacea and monarda. Thanks for posting the pic!

You're welcome. Have you seen Aster x frikartii 'Monch'? Now 'that' is a really excellent plant! I took a photo last week - take a look!

Thanks Barbara...I took a leisurely stroll through your garden (pics) and I did see it, in fact, I think I commented on it. these are like the geraniums ...timeless garden staple ...ever beautiful.

I do agree - I wouldn't want to be without them. I'm sure I had a pink one...I wonder where that went? :-(((

That's part of the reason why I really like the Erigeron Swan River Daisy...it starts out one colour and ends up the other!!

We call Brachyscome 'Swan River Daisy' here - and it's an annual. ???

Here's another riddle...I've seen it labelled both. brachycome and erigeron...and yes it's an annual here too.

How strange! And yet another oddity to ponder upon. I spelt it with an 's' in the middle, you left it out - and I've seen both spellings on seed packets/trays of plants...'Brachycome' AND 'Brachyscome'...

This reminds me of the renaming/reclassification confusion that's been going on with certain plants and shrubs... like the Livingston daisy...I found two designations...is it Dorotheanthus or Mesenbryanthemum? I guess it's both...depending where you live? I've also found that the inet is a good purveyor of misspelling... lol. and occasionally~ errors... I check with an encyclopedia (American Spelling) for confirmation... it's not as fast as the internet search engines but I know I can trust my own eyes to check the information on the printed page!! well sometimes...on a good day....lol.

I have the Royal Horticultural Society 'A-Z Encyclopaedia of Garden Plants'...now you'd think that this, produced by such an august body, would be 'the best' source of information, but as we keep saying - "Plants can't read". LOL.
