This creeping woodlander needs a moist soil; it fades away in drier conditions.

That was a combination we used at Chelsea back in 2001. The conifer came from my garden and was replanted after the show. I've been trying (off and on) to get the cornus to grow in my garden ever since, and have finally found a damp enough patch for it.
