Corylopsis veitchiana (Corylopsis veitchiana)

A large shrub/small tree for woodland, eventually reaching 12 feet high by about 8 feet across. The flowers, carried before the leaves, are the largest in the family

Well they are both corylopsis so you can see the family resemblence. Pauciflora means 'small flowers' whereas C.veitchiana has the largest flowers of the family

They are so pretty at this time of year, aren't they. I planted mine betwen two Vincas - 'Jenny Pye' which have had a go at smothering the poor Corylopsis. I will be chopping them back soon and if I am lucky, digging up some rooted plants!

Yes they are scented but you are talking to someone who a) doesn't have much sense of smell and b) has cold just now!
