They are beautiful, a friend gave me a "bit" from her chinese lanterns. She said they are coming everywhere in her garden, so I put mine in a pot because although they are gorgeous, and dont want them growing everywhere. How did you get them into a tree shape?

Titchy, I think the ones your friend gave you are Physalis franchetii(chinese lantern) which is a hardy perenial. This is a Crinodendron Hookeranium.

I have one of these but not had much success with it.. Any tips on the care of it please Stroller...Mine was in too much shade i think, so I've just moved it to the other side of the border where it will get sun mid day to evening.

Bill, this one was killed by the severe frosts this winter,
lucky for me managed to get me a very decent sized one from Beechcroft Nursery near me. Shall fleece it if this coming winter threatens to be as cold.
Its planted in my sunny border which gets sun from early morning until noon. I do give it a top dressing of ericacious compost once a year.
This new one was planted in April and is full of bud.
A blog for you posted today.
