Although this will grow as an upright shrub to six feet, it is better trained against a south-facing wall. Needs well-drained soil, probably only hardy to about -5C, although mine came through the bad winter of 2010/11 - but only just

Sue - bush poppy and tree poppy are common names for it. It is in Papaveraceae which includes poppies
