I think we're supposed to call this one macrocapnos now

I haven't heard the reasons mouldy. Usually it's either they've found the DNA doesn't match with other dicentras so it has to move to a new family, OR a plant explorer found it and called it macrocapnos before somebody else found it and called it dicentra (the first name has priority).
I suspect it's the former reason in this case.

Doubtless, it's common name will persist, but I wonder how long the Latin changeover will take in gardeners' mind?

Given that pelargoniums are still called geraniums, I would put any money on it happening soon :-)

Even that is news to a newbie like myself.
Everything I learn only serves to highlight how little I know. Lol.

Don't worry Mouldy - the more you learn about plants and gardening, the more you realise there is to find out. Someone once said, "One lifetime is not enough."

I can well believe it, Andrew.
I now wish I'd taken gardening decades ago!

There was something to that effect on one of Surreylad's pages, if memory serves me, Andrew.
Have they discovered it not to be what they thought it was?
