Eryngium agavifolium - 2016

Eryngium agavifolium - 2016 (Eryngium agavifolium)

Probably a curiosity rather than a thing of great beauty, but I'm growing it in my new desert bed where it gets sun for half the day and a very dry soil. Flowers stems can grow up to six feet but generally around half that.

What is that in the background? Looks rather like a Puya...........

It is - puya berteroniana, planted in April.

Good luck with that Andrew. I have three from seed which germinated last autumn. One will go out although I suspect that it will need some winter protection here.
Of my other Puya P.mirabilis has just bloomed for the first time.
