This was one of the first things I planted when I moved here in 1984. It is in horrible clay facing due east but has coped admirably. Been flowering off and on since November

Mahonias are wonderful backdrop plants. The flowers are there when not much is out, berries loved by the birds

I don't usually like Mahonias, Andrew, but this one is a 'handsome' shrub!
