The Melianthus has not been cut back by frost this year (so far!!) and because it was getting so tall, we used the Paulownia trunk, which OH had just cut down as a garden stake, imagine my surprise when I noticed the Paulownia has started to shoot.....watch this space!

Wow you are lucky, ours has never flowered in the south, hoping to have some this year, would be happy with one flower!!

You have to keep the top growth through the winter to get the flowers. This is the first time in 14 winters this has happened.

Andrew, like you this is the first time it has never died down, I cannot see any flower buds at the moment.....just hoping the Paulownia takes off as well.
Amy they are fairly tender, yet we grew them in the Midlands, Feverfew the buds are growing daily....
