Time to weed some of this out of the garden...

That is best, as it is in the mint family and runs wild. I put in a tiny 2" herb about seven years ago - now I just weed it out and keep a few clumps for filler in the empty areas.

It is an absolure menace - especially when it is growing on a 45 degree stream bank... I balance myself to dig it up but so often end up on my btm to avoid falling in the stream! I suppose it must look very funny to any onlookers.

Only thing worse is feverfew... If lemon balm ever gets established in a bed be prepared to do battle...it is tenaciously rooted and almost shovel resistant. I've used it to fill in too. I'm sorry to admit. It smells wonderfully lemony and is a terrific air freshener ...just boil a few leaves.
it self seeds like mad... beware!
