Ours is growing up and through the thick ivy on church boundary wall so dont mind but agree it can be very invasive.The vinca minors are less so !

I have a lovely dark green blue flowered V.minor and a white flowered variegated V.minor also. they are better ground coverers as their foliage is more dense.
