I am a new gardener, I have a plant in my garden I have never seen before ,how can I find out what it is as I have no pic of it

lots of large leaves have been growing for some time, then a tube shape has grown and when it opened it contains a cream object about 4-5 in long and the thickness of a fat thumb. never seen anything like it in my life

It sounds as though it could be a member of the Arum family. Have you got a plant book? Look up Arum and see what you find. Some of them are quite spectacular.

Definitely sounds like an aroid of some descripion. If the cream object has a green surround to it, then it could well be Arum maculatum, the native Lords and Ladies or Cuckoo Pint or 15 other common names.
