what is a hearty creeping groundcover?

I live in zone 5b, and am looking for groundcover that will cascade over a landscape 'tier'. The later the bloom, the better. It's for a cottage, so low maintenance would be a plus.

Try moss phlox. It is hardy and usually pretty drought tolerant. It flowers in May. You could also try "snow in summer" or Cerastium tomentosum. They grow like a weed and will cascade. I'm in a zone 5a and they love it here. They are very drought tolerant too. Silvery leaves and covered in little white flowers. They flower in June.

I love the Stonecrop for ground cover, the flowers have just finished, when it's in flower the yellow is very eye catching, plant it and forget about it, that's how easy the stoncrop is.
