It might very well be Pear Rust, a relatively new problem in pear trees here. Google Pear Rust, select the RHS page for information. The Woodland Trust and the RHS would like you to report it if that's what you have - they're collecting info to see how far this condition has spread here.

Looked up the site for this disease of pear trees and have put my pear shaped location logo on the site for keeping a record of how a tree gets on with this disease. I also have the vector for this in the garden in the form of 2 Junipers. Hey ho there seem to be a spreading number pests and diseases. I have four pear trees with this rust on the leaves. I took off all the yellow leaves this afternoon and burned them in the Chimenea. Thanks for the info Bamboo. They don't look all that happy but it is very dry here again.

You're right Dorjac, there are many new diseases and pests, with more imminent, unfortunately. The rust of pears is a weird and interesting one, the fact it has to have juniper nearby in order to function. No treatment for it either.

I had just put the chimenea away Bamboo after it cooled off and the rain came down and lasted several hours, first heavy and then gentle, filled a butt or 2. Which is handy.

Good timing then! We need a good downpour here, we had a ten minute shower yesterday evening. Not worried though, winter is approaching, lol!

Try and take off the leaves before they drop off. It probably is Pear leaf gall. Not too harmful but unsightly.
