What is eating these maize cobs? All plants on our allotments have been flattened in the last few days and all ripe cobs neatly stripped and eaten - see photo. Is this squirrels? Any suggestions on how to prevent it in future?

Badgers, almost certainly. I remember they used to wait until the cobs were almost ripe and then pounce during the night at our allotment in Wiltshire. They are the most likely when the plants have been flattened.

I agree with bertie as mice etc wouldn't trample the plants down.
