my cherry laurel looks like it has stopped growing

I have a row of cherry laurel which i planted as i thought that it was quick growing. But since i nipped off the lead shots it doesn't seem to be growing any more. I have a soaker hose around the bottom and it is watered daily by timer. In the spring it started to shoot up but has seamed to have stopped. Is this the norm for laurel, am i being paranoid and when is it normal for it to slow down it's growth rate before winter.

I planted a couple last year and from this spring they have nearly doubled in size, from the initial flush of new growth I too noticed they"seemed" to have stopped growing but have seen new buds appear and expect new growth soon, just take a closer look and don't worry.

By cherry laurel, I take it you mean Prunus laurocerasus? When did you plant? By "lead shoots" what exactly does that mean and when did you cut?
