We have recently cleared our derelict garden with the intention of laying turf in the Spring and eventually making some flower borders. However, there was some Ground Elder in the garden and we don't want this to re-appear. I would therefore appreciate your advice as to whether we need to apply weedkiller to the soil now and also what would be the best product to use. There are some existing trees and shrubs around the edge of the garden which we would like to keep.
Many thanks

as soon as you see a bit of ground elder dig the 'pip' out that the leaves come from. or spray with glyposhate on a resonably sized leaf. if you have leaves now, spray now and the posion is translocated down to the underground roots.
i dug up the roots over a period of months. pleased to say successfully.
