Golden Privet hedge turning brown

Height approx 3-4 ft, 8 weeks old. doing really well then some of the plants leaf turned brown then all the leaves fell of and they appear to be dead....there are 80 plants in total and some 13 have since gone this way, will the plants comeback or is there a problem ...help

Id think its down to lack of water from planting. And the recent hot spell hasn;t helped either. They should be watered for atleast a season until they are established.
This is the only thing i can think its down too. If the soil if clay then it will dry out quickly as will sandy soil.
Was any organic matter/soil improver incorporated into soil and was it well dug before planting?
Just make sure the replacements are weill watered all the time too!

Yep, agree with everything said above - the best time to have planted would have been Autumn, really, so I'm afraid you need to water, water, water until Autumn arrives.

It doesn't sound too hopeful for the leafless ones. If there's no sign of life, then you could replace them as the others are so young. New ones should catch up quite quickly.
Did you water them well? They'd need plenty in the hot weather we had recently!
The other action I would take is to complain to the supplier.
