You can prune out the dead branches. Give it a good feed and wait for new shoots to appear. But don't prune the green bits back hard, just a light trim if necessary to maintain a good shape.

My Escallonia hedge has an area with the leaves turning yellow, dropping and the whole of that section dying off right down to the root.
This started with one plant but seems to be spreading to the next plant and fairly quickly.
There are some liliies growing under this section. Could they be causing the problem?

I doubt it.
These plants seem prone to this.
I've posted the same questions before now and all i know is that there is a fungal infection present and it rears its ugly head every autumn, by winter this evergreen shrub has lost 80-90% of its leaves and it goes through winter as a deciduous plant.
Then in the sprin it regains all its leaves and more and is a lush beautiful hedge all summer.
Does yours sound the same ?
I spray with a fungicide and still it happens.
This is the 2nd year it's done it, it started a few weeks ago and is dropping quite well :/

Have you checked for signs of infestation or fungus? Assuming you have and you've found nothing, its probably drought - I know its not dry now, but we had a heatwave and drought conditions in the south for some weeks, and the problems you've got now may well have arisen from that if you did not water. On the other hand, I don't know which part of the country you live in, so you may not have had drought conditions.
