Is my Peach Tree too tall?
By Raymondo47

I purchased the tree last year and was told it was 2 years old. It has grown now to 7ft tall and 4ft wide, but only 3 fruit this year where two have dropped off. Does it need pruning and how. I have been told to leave it.
On plant
Prunus persica

Firstly, you sound like a really nice guy. Nice one.
How do i tickle the blossom?

Hi Raymondo,
Now I'm blushing. Thank you for your kind comment.
We used to use a rabbits tail fixed to a long cane, but your best bet is a large artists paint brush fixed to a long cane. When the sun is out and the flowers are fully open in the spring lightly brush from one flower to another, passing the pollen from one to another and you should get a good set of fruit.

If you want to cut back the main shoot on your Peach Prunus Persica, do so now. Your tree will then form more than one terminal, also your tree will grow wider. You must tickle the blossom to set fruit.
