Hi Would it do any harm adding oyster grit in with my compost. ??? Have been told its a calcium supplier

Yes. Oyster grit will make your compost more alkaline. It shouldn't be necessary to add it to proprietary brands of compost, but if you want to add it to home made compost, check the preferences of whatever you wish to plant in it.
