... is it too late to plant it? Will the garden centres have it? Is it a bulb and if so when would I plant them? Would it thrive at the back of a border against a fence, which is in full sun for part of the day but dappled shade for the rest? So many questions! Thank you!

hi its a corm and it will still be for sale in your local gc. even B&Q have been known to stock it.
its a stunning plant and will increase in number of corms year on year.

Oh what a shame we don't live nearer each other - come September, I'll be chucking out loads of the corms - they're far too many. Could send you some if you can wait?

Hi SBG thanks for your reply. I had some of this years ago and foolishly got rid of it, novice gardener at the time and I can't remember my reasons although I'm sure they seemed logical at the time! Have just seem some at my dad's and it looks fantastic, so would love to give it another go. Think I'm off down to the garden centre tomorrow morning (dragging reluctant 10 year old with me but never mind!)

Bamboo - have just seen your reply, that would be SO kind of you, I would be delighted if you could send me some corms! If you are getting rid of them in September, would I plant them straight away? Shall I send you a pm with my address?
