What the heck is bun moss?

Canada

It was mentioned in a book about container plants that I read.

it is a small tightly leaved moss that is used on pots to give a plant display a green topping. It is similar to the moss that grows as a small dark green growth on walls gutters and in the cracks of pavements.

It's funny i've never heard of it here.Would florists sell it or would I have to buy seeds.I like unusual things.

dont know about canada but it is available in florists here in britain.
good luck in your search. mosses have spores rather than seeds and they have a strange lifecycle.

Is it the one that looks a bit lichen like that you see on houseplants as a sort of top dressing, Seaburng? Or is that actually lichen that's grown on its own. bun moss means nowt to me either

it is a moss not a lichen, it looks like the bright green mound moss you get on the top of gutters and on patios.
