The picture makes it look almost as if they've been planted in rows - is that what it looks like in reality? Can't think that's the case in a new build house - I reckon they're just a fantastic crop of weeds, and would be out there whipping them out double quick. See what everyone else thinks though.

I'm there with Bamboo - yank 'em out nice collection of weeds, probably in the top soil that the builders put down (assuming they actually put any top soil down!)

I can't see why builders should go to the trouble of sowing seed, other than grass, on your plot but I would wait until you get an id for the plants before pulling them out. They just might be something interesting.

Probably the topsoil they used had some seeds in...why not keep one or two in a pot & see what they turn into?!

Look like a type of Polygonum we get at nurery occasionally in the compost. Dont come to much and arent very exciting. Easily pulled out

I agree, they look like weeds. How have they liked the rain? If they've thrived it's a good chance that they are weeds...............

If your'e anything like me you'll be loth to destroy them until you find out what they are; there might be something good in there!
I'm with B/holic and Fluff; keep a few going, just in case. I sowed some grass seed a few years ago and had a lovely crop...of lettuces. :¬o)

Hee, Hee bigbumblebee made me laugh when we first moved into our house we found some bulbs in the greenhouse and my dad planted them thinking they were daffodils - we've been pulling chives out of the front garden ever since!! I think I would pull them - my house was a new build and I'm still finding full bags of sand (still in their wrappers!!) and electric wiring etc. Builders dont leave anything nice behind (well its not called a builders bum for nothing...:-)))

it is one of the wild bistorts or polygonum. so yes pull it out as it is a weed even in my british native loving mode.
