It is a Celmisia spectabilis or New Zealand Daisy.

MANY thanks for both speed and great answer...the minute I read the Celmisia - it clicked! It's a great plant and very showy...and seems hardy too.
Thanks again.

They are totally hardy and grow happily in our garden 'up north'

Hi again....now I have another puzzle on my hands! I have had several people asking where they can buy this Celmisia - and as my one is still to young to split - I am trying to find a nursery that supplies it. Not the seeds - but plants...any sugs anybody? I have hunted the RHS plantfinder but no luck so far. Many thanks in anticipation!!

Hi there - thanks for the info. Unfortunately they don't have an up to date catalogue - until Oct.!! But it looks like they may well have the celmisia I'm after for my friends.
Any other sugs. for more immediate suppliers anybody?!

Send Ardfearn an e-mail or phone. Just because the catalouge isn't up to date doesn't mean that Alastair won't be able to supply.

Personally I'd phone as Alastair isn't very good at answering e-mails! They DO have superb plants... B & I can vouch for them :-)

Good thinking, Everybody ! You are all full of great sugs...and I thank you very much.
I will indeed have a go - and I see that he admits on line that his access to emails is limited!!
So phoning will do me just fine!
Cheers everybody and thanks again.
Yours aye
