I found this little bug with wonderful markings on a rudbeckia flower. I can't find it my 'bug book'. Can anybody on GOY identify it?

Frenchbean...if you google UKbugs and then have a look at Ditropis Pteridis, I think he may be your bug.....Harmless of course

Thanks for that Milky, I've googled the images and I'm not convinced it is that one as the markings are different and it has antennae. But thanks anyway, I'll keep searching the images ....

I suspect this is a french bug we don't have in the UK

That's quite possible Moon grower...
If anybody can suggest the type of family it may belong to that could help my search.

Isn't it one of the "shield bugs".....it seems to be the right sort of shape and there are quite a number of those in Europe obviously...we can even get some in the UK.

It's possible Alzheimer, but the shield bugs we have here are usually flatter on the back and not rounded like this is.

This is a nymph of a shield bug, that is why it doesn't look the same.
Google image shield bug nymph. You should find an image to confirm it.

Fractal I think you've cracked it!! I googled the images and it does look similar to other shield bug nymphs.
They look much better when they are younger - just like us humans I suppose, that's nature for you!! Thanks for your help!
