Indoor plants

Indiana, United States

I have quite a few indoor plants (mainly cactus and herbs) that are in planters that do not have drainage holes on the bottom. I can't tell if I am overwatering. Should I find new planters with drainage holes? Any suggestions?

I really think that you'd be wise to do just that, or else to buy those little gadgets that tell you what the moisture level in the compost is.

Cacti and herbs both need good drainage. Water collecting in the bottom is not good for these plants. I would re-pot.

If you have them in pots with a hole in the bottom, then you can place those inside your ornamental pots - when you water you can then tip away the excess a few minutes after watering.
