I'd agree with the first as viper's bugoss.
the second looks like a member of the pea family possibly a vetch, but I dont recognise it well enough to name it. it could be a garden escapee.

thank you both, and yes after looking in my last wild flower book the white one is defiantly vetch but they only had a purple one in there, must be an alba form.

That was my first thought too when I saw the leaf. Leaves are right, but surely not the flowers? SS has bells that hang down in a row

Have a look at wild liquorice then - a longshot! Are you on chalk? that's what it likes.

Do you know , even though i am up at 5am it looks very much to me like wild liquorice, i hope it is now! i will do more research at a sensible time in the morning and let you know!

aw thats a shame! i do like liquorice! i'm not 100% sure what the white one is, it has seed pods now with little green beans in it. i think i may just leave it for now and just enjoy!
