we are seeking advice about our very poorly cordyline australis

United Kingdom

It flowered last summer, looked healthy all through winter, then in spring it lost lots of leaves from the bottom (after they had previously turned brown). During the last month it has started losing leaves from any part of the plant, losing up to ten per day, with them blowing off in the wind. It had started to grow two more branches and we thought the leaves were coming off because of these but we now only have 4 leaves left on it. Help.

Any chance of a photograph? I'm intrigued by the "two more branches" because cordylines don't usually have branches.
