I have heard that bergenia and dichonra both need to be cut back drastically. Can you tell me when that should be done for each plant and what is meant by "drastically."

do you mean dichondra, a small creeping foliage plant? if so I dont grow it but I know it can be kept in its space by cutting back what you dont want.

Hi I grow bergenia and have never cut it back. I remove any dead leaves and spent flower stems and sometimes will take pieces off to propagate, but that is all.
I dont grow the other plant so I cant help there.
