Hi. I live in Hobart. I have a rhodadendron in a large pot and would like to plant it in the garden. When is the best time to do this and what sort of environment in the garden does it like?

Hi Prue. Please don't forget that most Rhodies must have acid soil. Southportsmith

I'd get it in now if I were you Pru, before your summer cuts in. It will like a shady position with plenty of moisture. I have 2 and the healthiest is certainly the one planted right against a north facing (for you, south facing) wall at the bottom of an incline so rain runs down to it. Loves it there.
