pruning pineapple broom

My pineapple broom is supposed to be trained up against the fence in my fairly small garden but it's suddenly got to be very tall and lanky looking. I'd like to prune it to a more respectable size but would it be possible to do it now before it flowers? It's not all that old - about 4 years but is very vigorous

Hi Brummie Bren posted similar query on page 3 of questions.Time to prune is winter when old wood can be removed and cut back to shape.Bren appears to want this cytisus to grow like other brooms as you know they are not at all similar.
